There is something delightful about a piece of paper you can actually wear, and this little ring (with a bonus watch variation) delivers exactly that. It is the kind of fold you might remember from a childhood craft table: a strip of paper that, after a few clever creases and a satisfying tuck, becomes a chunky ring on your finger—or, flip the idea on its head, a rubber-band watch on your wrist. The best part is how little it asks of you: one sheet, a pair of scissors, a bit of tape, and a rubber band if you go for the watch. No glue, no fiddly origami vocabulary, just cut, crease, and shape. Grab a sheet in your favorite color and let's make something you can show off by the end of the page.

STEP 1.

Cut the origami paper in half along the dotted line and make creases.

STEP 2.

Cut along the creases with a pair of scissors.

STEP 3.

Place the separated origami paper with the white side facing up, fold it in half along the dotted line, and make a crease.

STEP 4.

Fold it along the dotted line so that the top and bottom edges are aligned with the creases.

STEP 5.

Fold it in half along the dotted line.

STEP 6.

Fold along the dotted line so that the corners line up with the crease.

STEP 7.

Fold the corners inward along the creases (a half fold).

STEP 8.

Fold the other side in the same way.

STEP 9.

Turn over one sheet and fold it along the dotted line so that the top and bottom edges are aligned with the creases.

STEP 10.

Fold the back side in the same way.

STEP 11.

Turn over one sheet and fold it along the dotted line.

STEP 12.

Fold the back side in the same way.

STEP 13.

Open the folded part and spread the center part with your fingers to shape it.

STEP 14.

Tuck both ends into the ring, and your ring is complete.

STEP 15.

If you want to make a wristwatch, fold both ends along the dotted lines.

STEP 16.

Slip a rubber band around the folded part and secure it with tape.

STEP 17.

Secure the rubber band on the other side in the same way, and the watch is complete. Feel free to draw the dial as you like.
